About Clemens Kraft

Clemens Kraft is one of the largest developers of small hydropower plants in Norway. We work to produce clean energy that safeguards the environment and local interests from a long-term perspective.

About the company

Our focus is the entire process from licence application to power generation, with specialist teams at Clemens Kraft covering all areas of the various phases, from development to ongoing operation and management of the portfolio of power plants. The company has offices in Oslo, Narvik and Bergen, as well as local units for operational follow-up in the respective areas where Clemens Kraft operates.

Since 2006, Clemens Kraft has worked to develop small hydropower plants for greener and more sustainable electricity production in Norway. The company has a total production of just over 700 GWh, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of approximately 36,000 households.

We continuously work to develop good, mutually beneficial and long-term cooperation with landowners who want profitable management of local resources. In line with our principles of contributing to the transition towards sustainable energy sources, the company focuses on a platform that safeguards the environment, people and the economy.

Background and history

Clemens Kraft was originally established to develop hydropower on properties affiliated with Allstad AS, formerly known as Opplysningsvesnets Fond (OVF), but in recent years has expanded its operations to include general development and operation of small hydropower plants in cooperation with other landowners and local businesses. This development has resulted from organic growth, mergers and acquisitions. The company reached 700 GWh in production in 2021 and has since continued to work on optimising its existing power plants and further expansion through awarded and new licences.

Over almost 20 years, we have developed into a well-established and specialised player in the Norwegian small hydropower market for run-of-river power. Supported by strong owners, the company has built a solid portfolio. Experience from the various projects has given the company extensive expertise and advantages in the recapitalisation and management of the power plants. Cooperation with public authorities, administrative bodies, local stakeholders and associations is another area in which Clemens Kraft works to ensure transparency and communication, thereby securing stable framework conditions.
